Jonathan Martin Joins Aloia Roland

Jonathan Martin

A love of law and community brings Jonathan A. Martin to Aloia, Roland, Lubell & Morgan, PLLC as a new partner, specializing in personal injury and wrongful death cases.

An advocate of constitutional law, Martin’s journey now includes a bid for elected office. Endorsed by
Gov. Ron DeSantis, Martin is seeking the Florida Senate seat for District 27 currently occupied by Sen. Ray Rodrigues. Martin, a Republican, has only a write-in opponent facing him in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8. If elected, he would be sworn in as the next Senator, representing most of Lee County, in late November.

“I just have a good support system,” Martin said about his career. “I have an awesome wife, it has been a lot of hard work, long hours, but I have had wonderful people around me.”

Martin’s law career is a fulfilling and rewarding one and he brings a vast amount of knowledge as a skilled trial lawyer to Aloia Roland.

“I have known the (attorneys at Aloia Roland) for years,” Martin said. “My wife (Amy) worked there in the civil litigation department. I already have a strong relationship with the firm and its partners and share their commitment to clients and community.”

A graduate of the Liberty University School of Law, Martin passed the Florida Bar and immediately went to work as Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s Twentieth Judicial Circuit from 2009-14. He was responsible for prosecuting all state crimes in Glades County for three years and was felony prosecutor for Lee County from 2012-14. In all, he handled over 6,000 cases and 89 trials.

“My first few years in public service as a prosecutor helped direct me to where I wanted to spend my time and what I wanted to focus on,” Martin said. “I worked regularly with law enforcement and a multitude of government agencies to help keep our community safe. I prosecuted a wide range of important matters including environmental crimes and child abuse. Those experiences helped shape my career.”

Martin, 40, also spent time in the Fort Myers City Attorney’s Office and as a legal instructor for the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy. He comes to Aloia Roland from Parvey & Cavenago, P.A.

The Fort Myers resident has just as much experience serving his community, including a current term on the Florida SouthWestern State College Board of Directors. He has been Chairman of the Republican Party of Lee County since 2014. Martin also was a Florida delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention.

His resume is packed full of appointments to boards, including as founder and president of the Federalist Society. He is a sought-after speaker in the legal profession and at schools where he has participated as an instructor.

“Jonathan’s experience, credentials and leadership will mesh well with the strength, performance and high standards at Aloia Roland,” Senior Partner Ty Roland said. “We are excited he is joining us and look forward to this tremendous journey together.”

His thorough knowledge of the law and how that connects with creating effective legislation has Martin excited about the future.

“It helps me represent the people in Lee County more effectively, and better represent the clients,” Martin said.

Jonathan and Amy, who now works as an assistant state attorney for Florida’s Twentieth Judicial Circuit, have three children.
